Serving Minnesota for More Than 135 Years
Bell Bank Mortgage has made homeownership a reality for thousands of Minnesota individuals and families. We’d love the opportunity to serve you.A Long History of Serving Minnesota
When you choose Bell, you’ll partner with a company that has been a part of Minnesota since the state’s infancy.
The state’s oldest and most trusted mortgage company, we were founded in 1880 as Bell Mortgage by early Minneapolis leader David C. Bell. The company added locations throughout the Twin Cities as well as Rochester and St. Cloud. We have also expanded in the Phoenix market and into other states.
In 2011, Bell Mortgage became a part of what was then State Bank & Trust, the largest independent bank in the Midwest. One year later, the entire company rebranded as Bell State Bank & Trust, taking the more unique Bell name as a known and respected regional brand. In 2016 the company simplified its name to Bell Bank, with the mortgage division becoming Bell Bank Mortgage.
Independent Family Ownership
As one of the country’s largest privately owned banks, Bell embraces a simple yet powerful commitment to our employees and customers. Our core values of family, unequaled service and giving back are at the heart of what we do. Employees and customers alike are treated like family, and Bell is recognized as a top place to work and to do business. We're a place where people matter, and results matter. That's the Bell difference.
Supporting Our Neighbors and Communities
Pay It Forward
As part of our Pay It Forward tradition, Bell employees carefully consider the many needs in our communities and our world.
Each year, every full-time employee receives $1,000 and every part-time employee $500 to give as they choose to individuals, families or organizations in need. To date, Pay It Forward has empowered more than $18 million in giving.
Together, we can change the world one good deed at a time. Learn more about the program and watch giving stories on our Pay It Forward website.
Spare Key
Bell proudly supports Spare Key, a local non-profit that provides housing payment assistance for families with critically ill or injured children. The goal is to ensure that parents are able to remain an integral part of their child’s care and recovery team without having to worry about how they will retain their home. Bell donates time and money to this important cause.
